Gentlepersons:

I'm about to finally take my new LX200 farther than my extension cord.

What batteries have established owners found acceptable? Is the Vogel Porta-pac considered "standard" or are others on the market better? How about motorcycle or similar batteries?

Is the #1812 adapter necessary to provide 18v, or is 12v operation acceptable? I have been getting mixed messages on this, some distributors saying it "still works" on 12v.

Being new to this list, I have missed any previous discussion on this, but have noticed a bit of "flame-residue" on the whole 18v topic. Thanks for you thoughts.
