Hello Jim,

You wrote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a few observations concerning pointing errors.

Date: 4/20/95 Time: 3:00 pm PDT (approx.) Mount type: LXD650 (GEM) Software Vers.: 6.2 (Hand controller says Ver. 3.2)

I changed the date on the LXD650 then changed it back to update planetary coordinates.

I used a Macintosh planetarium style program (Voyager II v2.0) to use as a check against the ROM code in the LXD650.

I listened to WWV (which, by the way TPlays the HITS 24 hours a day) and set the clocks of the LXD650 and Macintosh (PB160) to within one second of each other and UT.

Observation follows:

LXD650 Planet Voyager II

RA 21H 21.1M VENUS RA 23H 57M DEC -01 Deg. 55 Sec. DEC -01 Deg. 58 Sec.

Checks done on Mars and Saturn did not vary significantly enough to be concerned with. Mercury is too close to the Sun at present.

The total error here (in RA) is 2 Hours 35.9 Minutes in a direction away from the Sun (at present).

Hummm... Meade please fix! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for the information. I got this message during my stay here in Southeast Asia. Sorry to not be able to sign on to the net very often while I'm over here.

I will be alerting the engineering department regarding this problem, and I will make a posting to this group as to the outcome.

Thank you for giving us all of the pertinent data as well (e.g. version number, time, site, etc.) We always need to know this infromation in order to track down a problem.

or Very truly yours,
