Craig -- I think it's an excellent decission -- but I biased. I have
one on order which I should receive soon for my new lx200 12" f/10. I
studied the CCD camera purchase question for 6 months with
discussions with "users" on CI$ astroforum, and in the SBIG user
group (sbiguser@blob.best.net). I examined CCD pictures in all issues
of CCD and 1 years woth of Sky & Telescope and Astronomy mags. If you
are interested "pretty pictures" then the ST7 is the way to go (I
ruled out the ST8 out on big bucks).

The self guiding feature of the ST7 I feel is very important.
Starting at the low end and working up seemed like needless waste of $ to
me.
