It does run on 4 AA batteries. I couldn't tell the pointing accuracy inside
the store, but I will say that when I had it point to Arcturus, the friggin
scope turned itself UPSIDE DOWN completely, with the finder towards the
floor. It did clear the scope base though by quite a bit when it flipped
over. I can't figure out why the electronics let it go upside down like that.

The whole unit looked lighter and less stable, but somehow slicker.

I played with the clutch..and it seemed to work just fine, so that you can
move the scope manually and not lose sync. It comes with a sliding bar and a
dinky little counterweight that won't do anything. Apparently, it is
optional to be able to get heavier counterweights.. which probably would
sold the problem of hanging a CCD or binoviewer off the back. I don't know
how long the batteries will last though, no idea.

This was an actual unit "for sale" sitting in a store window. email me if
you want to know more about that.

Thanks! - Todd
