My personal opinion is that a 'makeshift' dew shield can be as tight a fit
as any other and the 'lots of them' that people see rolling around in windy
conditions are an indication that they were not tight enough or that they
were shortened to much and they are not pushed on the telescope far
enough. I put mine on to the fork arms and have never had it even come
close to blowing off. Then again, in high wind situations I am apt to
decide the view would not be worth it.
