-------- REPLY, End of original message -------- Mike: With the Pilot Base, all you have to do is to be able to lift the optical assembly high enough to position it on the base. Once on the Pilot, the assembly securely sits there while you thread the rod from underneath. I know I could not set the scope up without it on my own, so to me, its a vital accessory and worth the bucks. Why spend thousands of dollars on the scope and not spend a few more for something that makes it useable? I remember a post, though, from a list member who was going to design a Pilot of his own. Some guys have acess to the equipment needed to manufacture a similar device for pennies on the dollar.
PS How are the optics on the 12" compared to the lemon you received earlier?
