I know you wrote the note quoted above nearly a month ago, but I saved it because I plan to try out my ST-7 in Alt-Az one of these days (probably in March).

I assume you meant 'wedge' instead of 'tripod' in your message. Since you are on Delphi you can FTP over to 'wwa.com' and enter the 'pub/ccd/australia/pictor' directory (I think I have that right. Some of the images in that directory were shot in Alt-Az. The fellow who did them seemed to think that he didn't have to guide the SCT - the stars are trailed badly. If you decide to do the short exposures you are talking about in Alt-Az, buy an off-axis guider and use it. You will be much happier with the result.
