In response to Aaron Spurr and others on the subject of LX200 and Mac's:
I have a v2.x lx200 8 in. f10 (and f6.3 reducer when needed) and a quadra 650 mac with cd drive. I plan to upgrade to v3.3 s/w, have ordered Vogager II with Sky Pilot for controlling the scope, ordering the Taurus Astrophotography System (see S&T jan 95), and plan to purchase either the Meade Pictor 201 *and* 416, the ST-5 or -6 (or the St-7 although this looks like a problem for the mac).
Other than for personal preferences, can anyone shoot serious holes in this setup? I would appreciate your inputs.
Aaron: I am coming up to speed on quickbasic (with the microsoft qbasic for the mac). I would appreciate receiving your test program in qbasic for controlling the lx200. I would be happy also to discuss any other related lx200/mac subject.
This setup has one (???) other concern -- I want to use the two existing serial ports on the mac for the printer and the modem. Does anyone know of a mac nubus card that can add multiple additional serial ports? I have three empty nubus slots!
One last comment: I just downloaded all existing old messages from ftp.netcom.com (at 3 a.m.) and read every one of them! A treasure chest of goodies on every subject I have been pondering over by myself for a year!!! I feel this is definitely the right place to talk about ccds, etc. The scope itself, and all the peripheral equipment(s), are too interrelated to be discussed separately.
Thanks for the time and your inputs,
Robert Tiffany
