I bought the JMI focuser because of cost but have since discovered that there are times that I need both the ability to focus by hand as well as electrically. This is usually at public star parties when others are viewing through my scopy and each individual eye is somewhat different. The Meade focuser will allow this where the JMI completely covers the focus knob and has to be removed to hand focus. If I had it to do over I would probably spend the extra dollars to get the Meade focuser.
