This is not for you collimation freaks out there. You must already know the
benefits of "perfect" collimation.
The other night I spent over an hour tweaking the collimation on my 8" f10
to get it as close to perfect as I could. I thought the images of Jupiter
were much better and I could see more detail. Bright star images were
rounder and the little tiny flairs around their edges were gone.
Unfortunately, when I put the supplied diagonal back in, the collimation was
off again. What I'll do is look straight through for any critical stuff and
use a diagonal otherwise. {:-^(
The point is: Maybe the experts who say collimation of an SCT is critical
are right after all (Imagine that!) All the extra fuss I made seemed to
make a difference. So if you haven't checked lately............. Anyway,
I'm sold!
