Ralph,

As a fellow Sacramentan, I thought I might add that I too was out on Sat
night a little East of Sacramento in the hills. I noticed that the seeing
was unusually good that evening. I did observe a sharp Saturn for most of
the evening, but was unable to discern the Casini division. I was using a
9mm Nagler and a 32 mm Panoptic. I agree with you about Jupiter being too
low. By the time I got up there (about 8:30) it was relatively low and there
was a lot of atmospheric distortion.

I was using a 10" LX-50 without a stool! As a result, my back is a little
sore from hunching over so much. A proper observing chair is my next investment.

Just my two cents.
