Subject: LX200: <help> and <alignment menu> from computer.

A colleague, Keith Thompson, and I are hoping to automate a Meade
12-inch/LX200/Pictor 416 for photometry. We are at an early stage. We can run
the demo program from the Manual OK, but two immediate questions arise:

How does one access the <help> page from a program using <:?#> ? If you use
Quick Basic you seem to need to know in advance the number of characters, n, to
put in input$(n, 1) and we do not know what it should be to implement <:?#>.

Secondly, how do you implement the alignment menu via <:Gn#> ? If this could
be done, one could leave the telescope switched on in LAND mode (ie not
tracking), then implement POLAR alignment automatically through a program and
start observing on the next clear night.
