Hello, I used to have trouble bending the c-clip frequently. I got rid of that problem and the problem (for me) of centering the LX200 8" on the tripod head. I purchased a tripod head adaptor from a company in New Mexico. The scope now slides into position exactly centered every time -- making lifting the scope and placing it much easier. I keep the threaded bolt and handle loose (unattached from the tripod - no c-clip) and it self centers. Expensive (about $230) but worth it to me. This might be called the Cadillac of the pizza pie pans ! :)
