I was not too impressed with the seeing at ALCON97 in Copper Mountain
Colorado. It was extreemly dark at Shrine Pass at nearly 11,000 feet
but the seeing was maybe a 6 out of 10 as far as steadyness. Here in
Tucson at 2500 feet an average night is a 6, many nights are 8's or
9's. I would think that being that high would give you awesome
transparancy and steadyness. I wonder if being in the center of the
mountains like that causes the upper level air to be unstable. Any
ideas?
Oh, and Howard, great shots. I am a little shocked at the length of
your exposures! I would never dare to expose M8 for 2.5 hours! I've
gotten very well exposed shots in 20 minutes with unhyped Fuji 800 and
Kodak Royal Gold 1000 at f/6.3. 3.5 hours on the Helix!?! Damn!
