I think the perceived problem is that because the SCT is a sealed unit,
overheating and internal outgassing could occur, leading to damaged optics.
I have a Thousand Oaks filter which fits over the corrector plate of my
LX200; it works very well. However, you need to remember to put the
objective lens cap on the finder scope if you don't want your hair to catch
fire :-)

BTW the Meade LX200 Users Manual seems very heavily biased towards Northern
Hemisphere users. Has this been a problem for any of you folks down under?
