Why you ought to be listening to your LX-50 groan guy. I mounted a 80mm
finder on my Celestar 8 and that made Celestron so mad I had to sale the
telescope! I couldn’t figure anyway to get it to balance. The best solution
I could come up with was to swap it out for a 9X60mm finder . . . I'm still
using the 9X60 on my 10" LX-50. Truth is Magellan II does most of the finding
for me. Course I don't have to point my telescope at a particular ant in the
grass to center Polaris. . .

Lighten your load man

<< Hi,
has anyone got any clues about getting an 8" lx50 to balance properly in
all positions?? I have mounted a home made 80mm finder/mounting ring system
to my tube assembly and on the opposite side mounted a homemade 2d balance
weight system. I am unable to find a combination of weight/weight position,
that will balance the scope in all positions without moving the weights
every time I swing the tube around a bit. It seems almost impossible to
find the centre of gravity.
Anyone got any ideas? Or is this something that we just have to live with
until a losmandy german eq appears under our christmas tree?

cheers
