Try the Tuthill Polar Axis Finder. This is a gunsight device with offset
crosshairs. Ive been using them for almost 20 years and regularly achieve
alignment adequate for hour long exposures without trailing. It even aligns
an LX200 faster and more accurately than the built-in alignment routine.
I know - it sounds too good to be true, but try one before dismissing it
off hand.
