I have tried out ALL Naglers, Panoptics, and Superwides on the LX200 8, and
10". Anyone who would like info. on these can email me.
As for the 18mm Superwide, I own TWO , using it on my binoviewer. They are
excellent. The Nagler, however, seems to give a more profound effect.. with
the 82 deg. field...and large amt. of glass. You cannot take in much more
field at one time than the 18mm superwide w/o moving your eye around...but
that feel of seeing different views as you look around is interesting in
itself.
If you have the money, and can stand the incredible weight of the
Nagler.. then go for it.. otherwise the 18mm SW is a great alternative. A
fantastic alternative is also the 22mm Panoptic. Much smaller (although still
large) than the 20mm Nagler, it will not weigh scope down. Also.. the 22mm
with it's 68 deg. field magnifies slightly less than the Nagler, BUT therefore
also has almost the identical field of view. Just a tad smaller. Better eye
relief too. You can't readily use glasses with the 20 Nagler. 18mm SW has
better eye relief than the Nagler too.
