Understood Herb, I ordered my scope with the larger right angle
finder not the standard one as I had in the past made more than one
finder out of scrap binocular parts and I knew what I wanted
.My finder would not originally
stay put either but I tracked it down to the mounting bracket.
I found that you had to overtighten the screws on it as much as
possible as in my case it was the bracket moving not the finder
in the bracket. The bigger finder I recently compared to the
standard one when I received my new scope and the difference
in the mount castings was marketly better in my old finder
than the new one also the the screws for alignment in the
standard finder were not as strong or rugged.I have to take my
finder out every time with the new scope as the design has been
changed and you can not invert the scope with it on.This is to allow
my roof to clear the scope when I shut it.The finder still aligns ok.
Oh well it is just one of those other niggling things that Meade may
one day take note of and improve the mounting on the standard
finder as well as marking the mount screws as some people have
suggested as a mod to help .
