Thanks for putting those programs up. You thanked me for the
contribution, but frequently your contributions are overlooked. Thanks
for running Astromart and providing the LX200 list server.
I was thinking about ra_drift this morning and the problem reported rolling over midnight. The problem is a BIOS bug, but I think I have a way around it. How soon could/should I make this available???
I wonder if I can get Meade to increase the readout precision on RA. Right now it is 1 RA second (15 arc seconds at the equator). If so, then the possibliity of computer training the PEC is a real possibility. For that matter, why doesn't Meade provide that capability in the LX200? It would be nice to have the LX200 smarter so that unless you GOTO or slew with the NEWS buttons it 'automatically' adjusts RA (and optionally DEC) to maintain the values entered. Guess I ought to suggest it, but I think this would be a major change in their program executive operation. Since they currently goto and forget (such as for refraction), continual monitoring of the location of the RA (and DEC) and correcting for it could mess with the programming timing. I will mention it the next time I talk to Meade.
