One thing I have used that works great is to give kids (or adults) who show
an interest in astromony a copy of SkyWatch97. Its published by S&T,
comes out each September, and includes star charts for an entire year along
with a good selection of articles for beginners. I usually buy several ($4
each) and give them to individuals who are interested in "getting started".
These are especially helpful for someone just starting out. SkyWatch 98
just came out.
