That's a pretty big "except". :-) A Losmandy dovetail plate for a 10"
weighs 3.6 lbs; your bottom bar probably weighs at least 1.5 lbs. That
Losmandy gear is *heavy*-duty!
Considering which, I am leaning toward making my attachments from wood.
I'm not particularly concerned with flexure as this is just for visual
work; if it flexes a couple of arc- *minutes*, I'll never notice.
I think I can make do with a 1/2 lb wood beam on each side of the tube.
This way I can keep the total weight down to 20 lbs (including Pronto,
Meade dew shield, Naglers, finderscope and counterweights).
