Frank -- Hi! I have several ideas for you to consider. Instead of a
filter wheel, I use the Van Slyke Versaport II Flip Mirror box as it
has a filter slot for easly holding and changing one filter at a time
which works out nicely for me. Also, to shorten the back focus
required.

Aldo Optec makes a very nice, compact filter "slider" that you should
look at.

Lastly, the best method of focusing is still to keep changing the
focus in small steps, looking for the setting that produces maximum
peak pixel values. You will find some additional info on theseitems at my
website and others here on Mapug. In particular, make sure you check
our Doc Greiners site.
