And quoting rics earlier message:
"I used 12vdc for 3 years and now use 18vdc for about a year and a half.
Ive had no problem with the dec or any component on the LX-200. It runs
fine all the time (once a month at least)."
Excellent! This means the hardware is identical, only the recommendation
of voltage is different, and there is a pretty low risk, regardless, at
either voltage, if the scope is used once a month. If you dont make it to
three years at 18V without a drive failure, I hope youll let us know.
