So far as I can see, no proof has been given that the regulator shares
any blame in any drive failure. Weve speculated that it *might* share
*some* of the blame in *some* failures. If youre worried (I am, but
my scope, unlike many others, has experienced two drive failures in two
years) you can add homebrew heatsinks to the regulators, one on each
of the two drive assemblies (or operate on 12 or 15 volts, as a few of us
have chosen to do).
