If anyone is interested in accurate star position, might I respectfully suggest taking a look at my Windows planetarium program "SkyMap". This uses the SAO star catalog, and RIGOROUSLY applies all position corrections - proper motion, precession, nutation, aberration, and even gravitation light deflection.

I guarentee that the position corrections applied by SkyMap are correct!

Anyone interested in seeing it can get SkyMap from any decent FTP site, such as "oak.oakland.edu", directory "/SimTel/win3/astrnomy", files "skymp21a.zip" and "skymp21b.zip". Note that a new version 2.2 is being released next week (although the way that star positions are computed hasn't changed).

Chris
