I originally ordered the polar alignment finder that is
bigger and has a right angle prism on the end.This design
is much better and Meade got it right with this finder.
It is much easier to use when the scope is pointing upwards
I think that as the scope is used for land viewing they
used the original without a prism.These type of finders
are always a a pain and have to be spaced a long way away
from the scope so that you can get your eye to them.
The only thing that annoyed me about the big finder was
that there was no cover for the eyepeice and consequently
mine gets full of sh one T.
You do not have to have the scope with the standard finder.
