People seem to think that something has to be expensive to be any good.
So there's naturally some doubt about the efficacy of the Telrad.

IF the Telrad is correctly mounted (that is, it is exactly parallel to the
telescope's optical axis), then the center of its field will correspond to
the center of the 'scope's field. It's a lot easier to find the object you
want with a Telrad than with a "high-powered" finder. (With respect to 1x,
8x is high power.)
