I did another experiment just now in my living room. I set up the scope on
a table and powered up pointing south with the tube approx level. The
keypad claimed it was pointing at declination -53 (about right, but
essentially irrelevant). So I asked it to slew to dec -52 (thats UP from
where it thought it was). Again, it gave the bogus error: "illegal, would
hit base". There is no way it was going to hit the base slewing UP!

I would appreciate it if other LX200 12" (not 8" or 10") owners out there
would try this (or similar experiments) and report the results. If we can
establish this well enough, Ill report it to Meade.
