Yes,
Only if you begin to keep records on what settings required what digital
position.. Any setup change can certainly be expedited. Its nice to change
a setup and find that you are so near focus as to require only an adjusting
tweek. Unless there are torque problems (with a very extended accessory
chain) I use the JMI motorized digital focusing accessory in the optical
path. I usually leave this set at the 6mm extended position allowing me
the latitude of going either way to refine my position in the focal plane.
This whole business only gets hairy with the CCD and changes in the
accessory chain (specifically the focal ratio, e.g., f/6.3, f/3.3 -where
of course you have to use only the primary mirror focus-the plumbing will
not accept the Otec f/3.3).
