Subject: I'm not as sympathetic about Meade's departure

I fully understand Meade's decision. However, I think that monitoring this
list, would be beneficial, even though I understand how they cannot handle
customer service by email.

I too, have been overloaded with email from viewers who have comments on our
wonderful New England weather. A whole new avenue for people to communicate,
and WHAM, I can't keep up with my responsibilities if I try to answer the mail.

However, KNOWING that Meade is monitoring a MEADE oriented mail list, is
comforting in itself.. and is a good compromise, beneficial to all parties,
and to me a reason to choose Meade as a vendor. I feel that this is the wave
of the future, for sure, and that they are getting off the boat just long
enough to give someone else an opportunity to get on.

I am not even in the business, and I have inadvertantly done brisk
swapping/trading of astronomical merchandise, almost forced on me by my mere
presence on the net. Meade will miss a large chunk of business that they could
and should have capitalized on with a presence on the Internet, and I will
miss the inside scoop of what is really going on there. Customer service was
not even aware of ROM Ver. 3.34 when I called, well after Ron announced it's
birth. I will miss Meade's presence, and cannot support their all or nothing
decision.

Ron, please reconsider monitoring MAPUG.
