Out of curiosity what sort of view did you have? I checked Mars last night (first observing time in over a month!) and was very disappointed: couldn't see any detail to speak of at all. I tried 6mm Ortho, 9.9mm Meade Super Plossl, and red and blue filters and still couldn't see any detail.

Is there some sort of sandstorm event on Mars? Or is the lack of detail due to the lower contrast from SCT's? If I get a chance I'll try taking out my 6" Newtonian for comparison purposes.
