No reason why not, if you take some care. The big problem is flexture
of the guide scope relative to the main scope. I have read mail from
several people who have licked this problem by using really macho
mounting rings (like Losmandy).

Im right on the verge of buying a Meade ETX for the same reason.

Adding a barlow couldnt hurt.
