Hi Bill,
I'm freezing now, but I tried again some of the things you mentioned on the
Field issue. First, when I'm sitting dead on M42, Field says # Objects: 2;
Center: NGC 1976 (which is, as you know, M42). So, unlike yours, this works
on mine.
Like you, I don't know how to get it to display the second (or subsequent)
object in the Field.
A new wrinkle: while in Field after slewing to NGC 1976, hit Enter. It
gives the normal display for the Orion Nebula, i.e. NGC 1976, SU NEB, et
al. Now go to Next, and a new NGC object appears. Then go to Previous, and
it's not NGC 1976 any more. What the...?
I agree with you...I don't know what's going on here.
You are correct that I am wrong in guessing that it had something to do
with descriptions on whether or not Field picks up an object...I tried NGC
1975 and it showed up in Field as Coordinates Only. But still no joy on NGC
2024. Find, although, appears to only work on objects with descriptions.
Perhaps there is a way to set the Parameters to show them all, but I
haven't found it.
There must be a logical algorithm selecting these objects, because it's
consistent (as opposed to random), but I wonder what the logic is.
This seems like a good challenge for this group...let's try to figure this
out.
Thanks,
Don Tabbutt
