I have the AC adaptor made by sceptre. I am not certain if that
is the same as the one you currently have. But it seems that there is
a pig tailed fuse in there. I dont remember if you said you saw
smoke comming from it. But if you did. The transformer probably burned
out. That is the most expensive part in there. Its probably better
to just get another one if that got trashed. I couldnt find
a screwdriver to open mine up. but from the openings I see a few diodes
probably to create a bridge circuit out of and there is a large
capacitor. The circuit is quite simple actually. At least from what
I see from the ventings.
Looks kinda like this:
(to telescope)
_I_ _I_ _I_ _I_
I II I _ I II I
I II I / \ I II I
I II I I I I II I
I_ _II_ _I \ _ / -(*) I_ _II_ _I
I I I I
(to transformer)
diodes capacit fuse diodes
The two sets of diodes will cause the ac to become dc (for thoes
who dont know electronics well). The cap. does some conditioning
and the fuse is the protector of the transfomer (or it should be).
