I've only seen the central star in a 16" Newtonian at a dark site. I have
had my LX200 12" at a truely good site once, and it was this past winter,
so Lyra wasn't visible at the time I was out. Other than that, I have never
seen the central star in my 12": though M57 is big and beautiful in the
scope.
