Subject: Bad image shift?

I am a bit depressed and confused this morning..

Just received the LX200 over the weekend, tried it out briefly yesterday and today.

Yesterday, I did not notice any image shift, but today, it seemed considerably bad. I was trying to Star test, and at 6mm (in my 8" f/10) Arcturus seemed to jump about 1/3 of the field of view suddenly as I began to focus...almost as if the telescope moved, you know, a jump - not quite a smooth shift from place to place (but the telescope didn't move)

I have read the info. from our archive on image shift, but let me ask you this..

How much shift is "normal" ... this was obviously several arc minutes

Can I really fix it myself?

If I verify that the shift is really this much, should I send the scope back?

Any help would be appreciated!
