Paul, Its a personal thing. All of my prior scopes have had a wedge and that is what I have grown used to. Hard to teach old dogs new tricks I supose. I started out with the Alt/Azmuth as shipped and then ordered the super wedge just because I felt more comfortable with it, not because the other didn't work fine.
