It seems to me that the adjustment mentioned by Brandon should be done
(and new worm grease added or the old grease re-distributed over the wormwheel
teeth) in cases of "retrograde" dec motion during guiding.

Robert there is a couple of things that I did not mention that come
to mind I added a small amount of molyslip lubricant to the worm
grease that improved it no end.The other thing is that if you look at
the worm when the scope is unbalanced when the motor goes in one
direction the worm attempts to climb out of the wheel against the
spring pressure.It does not do this in the other.While this happens
you can get the gearbox moving for a short period without the scope
changing angle.This problem is a real brain teaser and must be simple
if only we could spot what the hell was going on.
