Yes, this is exactly what happened to me earlier this year -- the date
was off by exactly ONE day -- and I too could not account for it.

Maybe the pre-programmed calendar for the telescope is off by one day,
for one the months? (i.e. 31 days instead of 30, or vice versa)

Hmmm ... maybe worth a quick looking into ....
