Stuart, I went from a Meade 8" to the 10" LX200 and I see a noticeable difference with only an additional 2 inches. My tired old eyes had trouble putting the spiral arm on M51 with the 8" but I can SEE them with the 10". I would expect that the 12" would be even better. The biggest difference for me is that because of the additional weight and setup time the 10" LX200 doesn't get used as much as the 8" did. I don't have a permanent location for it so I must set up for each use. I would recommend that you consider the weight as well as the size in making your decision. Where I'm old and small you may be young and big and it won't pose a problem for you.
